When AI belongs in the product — and when it only belongs in the process

A copilot in the user’s hands is a product. Using a model to write tests or summarize a ticket is process. Mixing the two in the pitch usually ends in software nobody operates. At ED² we split the questions: who reviews the output? what happens when the model is wrong? does the value remain if we turn the model off for a week?

Custom software is still a business decision

Buying SaaS is right when the process fits. Building is right when the process is the advantage, or when integrating five tools costs more than a system of your own. That is a conversation about margins and risk, not “innovation.” We have it on the first call.
